How long have you been with Brace?
I’ve been at Brace for a touch over a year now.
What does your position entail?
I’m a team lead! My usual day-to-day includes juggling many things at once. They usually consist of planning and prioritizing the work we’ll be doing, jumping in to help get folks unblocked, and generally ensuring the ship is sailing smoothly. But, my biggest objective is to support my team as individuals and as a whole and to help drive them towards success.
What did you do before joining Brace, and how did you end up here?
Prior to Brace, I worked as a software developer for the New York State Court System. I was part of a team of teams that built and supported the court case management system. Part of the work I did really helped me appreciate how important access to justice is for all litigants. As far as how I found myself at Brace, I was recommended to apply by a friend, and the rest was history.
What are some of your favorite projects you’ve worked on?
My favorite project I’ve worked on was when I was still an engineer, and it was a project I was able to take by the reins and run with. Part of the loss mitigation process is to present our homeowners with a set of terms that encapsulate the best option for their financial situation. We support a number of workout options spread across another number of product types, with common terms shared amongst them. There were many angles to this, and a solid approach didn’t make itself easily apparent. I proposed a plan of attack, and with full support from my manager and team, we were able to build out our solution.
What is your proudest professional accomplishment at Brace?
My proudest accomplishment was being promoted to engineering manager. It is extremely rewarding to be recognized for your hard work. My previous manager here at Brace was a mentor whom I admired, and I am grateful for the support and opportunities I received in working toward my career goals.
What is your favorite part of working at Brace?
I get to spend my day-to-day working around some truly passionate, intellectual, and enlightening people. I love Brace’s mission and purpose that drives us towards sharing our solution with homeowners and other parties as they navigate through the loss mitigation process.
What is something you would want others to know about Brace?
Brace is a deeply human business that is invested in solving real problems. The culture here reflects how much we care about each other and about helping others.
Which Brace value means the most to you and why?
Diverse & Inclusive. Brace understands the importance of providing a diverse and inclusive work culture. And how vital that is in bringing us closer to understanding our customers’ life experiences and enabling us to provide a solution that fits their needs.
What’s been your favorite team activity?
A good portion of my team works remotely, so my favorite activity is whatever we do when folks are visiting the office, whether that be a lunch outing, rock climbing, or a game night in!
Where are we most likely to find you outside of work?
I am a Bravoholic, as the term was coined. You’ll find me cozied up in front of my TV, watching the latest episodes of The Real Housewives and other shows in the Bravoverse. I even met Andy Cohen on the streets of NYC randomly a few weekends ago (backed by an unfortunately very blurry selfie)!
Finally, something we’d never guess about you?
I own over 100 bottles of nail polish, thanks to a *little* hobby I picked up during the pandemic. But with that also came being a part of a super awesome community. I even went on a trip to California with a friend I’ve made along the way!
