What is your position and what does that entail?
I am a Sr. Java Developer here at Brace. My responsibilities include supporting, optimizing, and implementing new features for our server-side applications. These applications interact with the front-end and have a direct impact on our users’ experience.
Tell me about your career before joining Brace and how you ended up here.
Before joining Brace, I worked as a consultant for a while in Fintech. I came to Brace looking for a change from the consulting world. As a consultant, I found myself less invested in the products I was building. Oftentimes, the opportunity to innovate just wasn’t there. I was sold on the idea that Brace had a greater focus on product-driven development and that my role would be contributing to the success of a great product and user experience.
What is an exciting project you have been working on recently? What is your proudest professional accomplishment at Brace?
I would say that the most exciting project I have been working on is our open api 3 initiative. It has been a great opportunity to work with annotation processors and automate some of the code we have to continually update manually.
What is your favorite part of working at Brace?
Honestly, it is having good people to work with. Helping each other to achieve a goal greater than ourselves is and has always been an experience I deeply value.
What is something you would want others to know about Brace?
I would say that Brace has been very successful in attracting top talent and that the shared experience of working with bright individuals has been really amazing.
What do you enjoy doing when you’re not working?
It’s a toss-up, really. I enjoy building things (i.e. home improvement projects) but I also enjoy video games just as much. There’s also cooking too. I sometimes find it difficult to manage my leisure time activities. There’s never enough time!
